FAMILY ADVISORY COMMITTEE

The Family Advisory Committee (FAC) was created in 1998 to ensure that THRIVE services are created and maintained with a family voice at its heart. Our FAC is a group of committed and engaged family members who come together on a bi-monthly basis to learn about THRIVE services, provide input, and plan events and opportunities for all of THRIVE's families across Algoma.

PURPOSE

To provide a formal method of ensuring that relevant information of established services and new directions is communicated between families, leadership, the Board, and our community in a consistent, timely manner.

OBJECTIVES

  • To provide input to the Board of Directors to ensure evaluations occur on aspects of care for all THRIVE families.
  • To provide feedback on how requests for family input can be obtained in a meaningful way.
  • To request and plan family education programs which reflect family needs.
  • To facilitate the distribution of information to families on programs and/or services.
  • To enhance public awareness and acceptance of all children, to encourage positive and welcoming community attitudes and policies that facilitate inclusion.
  • To facilitate the development and enhancement of access to information, support, and educational resources which help clients and their families become better advocates.
